Fentury is a personal finance manager that helps individuals understand where their money goes, plan their financial month, and act on proactive advice tailored to their spending. The product unifies transactions from a wide network of banks, categorizes spending automatically, and turns the resulting picture into budgets, forecasts, and reminders that fit the way real people manage money. Available across iOS, Android, and the web, Fentury has been distributed in multiple regions and supports a large catalog of banks and currencies. FusionWorks built and maintained the platform across web, mobile, and backend over many years of collaboration.
Fentury connects to a global network of banks so users can see every account in one place rather than juggling apps and statements. Transactions are pulled in automatically, then categorized so users can see where, when, and on what they have spent their money. Additionally, historical data can be imported from a bank export or another finance app, giving people an immediate picture instead of a slow ramp-up. This unified view is the foundation everything else in the product is built on.
The Monthly Planning feature lets users divide their income into bills, spendable, and savings, providing a structure that turns abstract financial goals into something operational. Budgets are flexible rather than rigid: as transactions are added to a category, the corresponding budget updates in real time. Furthermore, custom categories let users tailor the model to how they actually think about money. This is what gives Fentury users a higher degree of control without forcing them into a one-size-fits-all template.
Fentury’s calendar handles future transactions and recurring bills, surfacing them at the right moment instead of leaving users to remember on their own. On top of that, the app analyzes spending and savings patterns to deliver detailed reports and concrete advice on areas to improve. Meanwhile, the mobile experience makes all of this accessible from the pocket where most financial decisions actually happen. This combination of automation and advice is what differentiates Fentury from purely passive expense trackers.
FusionWorks engineered Fentury across its full technology stack over an extended engagement. Our team built the backend on Ruby and Ruby on Rails with a PostgreSQL data layer, designed the web frontend around Backbone.js and Marionette, and shipped native mobile clients in Kotlin for Android and Swift for iOS. We worked through the hard parts of a fintech product — bank integrations, transaction categorization, multi-currency handling, and the security expectations that come with handling people’s financial data. Furthermore, our long-term collaboration meant the product could iterate on UX and add capabilities without the architectural drag that often slows down consumer fintech apps.
Fentury represents a substantial, long-running fintech engagement for FusionWorks and a product that successfully combined breadth of bank coverage with the careful product design that personal finance demands.
