We walked the audience through how AI is turning software building from an artisanal craft into a true factory process.

For years, IT has disrupted other industries through automation, yet our own industry remained largely manual. AI is now changing this paradigm.

But just sprinkling “Copilot” on top of old workflows is not enough; we need to design an end‑to‑end AI strategy, appoint internal champions, and treat every stage — from requirements to release — as a place where “software machines” can take over repetitive work.

– Think factory, not workshop. AI agents become the machines on our production floor, delivering predictable, on‑budget results at speed.

– Onboard AI like a new teammate. Feed it your coding standards, docs, and knowledge base; a generic LLM is not a jack‑of‑all‑trades.

– Code is a commodity, outcomes are the art. Shifting the “programmer mindset” to an engineering mindset frees devs for truly creative, high‑level problem‑solving.

– Guardrails matter. Hallucinated or malicious package names and outdated model knowledge demand extra validation and security checks.

– Looking ahead. Within five years routine coding will be largely automated; simple, production‑ready apps could ship in a week, unleashing a wave of legacy‑system rewrites and new opportunities.
